Product Description Catch the high-speed Hexbug Ant if you can! This Hexbug may look like a big, colorful ant, but it s actually a very cool little robot built for speed! It s the fastest Hexbug yet zooming forward on its 6 spinning wheel legs until its front antennae and rear wire sensor detect anything in its path and direct it to reverse direction. Let your ant run free, race it with other ants, or create mazes and paths for it to travel. There s always a new and different way to play with the Hexbug Ant! Real fun with real science. Easy to operate with a single power switch, the Hexbug Ant features a translucent shell that reveals its high-speed gear drive and lets you see it in action. A great way to learn about robotic science, regardless of your age! Ant measures approx. 2" long, with batteries included. Ant uses 2 AG13 button cell batteries (sold separately for $3 each). Get on the fast track to buggy fun and order your micro-robotic Hexbug Ant from Brookstone today! Warning: Choking hazard small parts. Not for children under 3 years. my dog's new best friend August 15, 2010 Mandi (Virginia) Make sure you have an eyeglasses screwdriver handy. This little bugger likes to get hair and lint wrapped around his gears which makes him quit running. I was about to write him off when I decided to open him up where the batteries go and realized the legs can be removed to clean off the rods and gears. Now he's back to running around the house driving the dog crazy. I love all the Hex bugs - I have three nanos, the original and now the ant. They're mostly entertainment for my dog, which provides entertainment for me. Each Hex bug has it's own unique features (like responding to light or sound) but the ant has the ability to run across carpet and has sensors at both ends that keeps it moving nonstop. These are great little toys for kids, pets, and gadget loving adults (like me).
Fast, Attention-Grabbing Toy July 23, 2010 phx_kc (Phoenix, AZ) Bought this as a gift for a 5 year-old nephew. He loved it. Goes super-fast, changes direction easily at the slightest obstacle, and was simple to use right out of the box. Not sure on durability, but for the price, even if it only lasts a week, it was money well spent.
it,s OK June 25, 2010 Jennifer Swinson I got this for my 9-year old son. It work't at first but it got tangled in evry hair it toched and it cept stoping evry time I turnd it on.
My kids love it! June 25, 2010 Becky Johnson (Fultondale, AL USA) I have a 5 and 6 year old who absolutely love these things! They seem pretty sturdy too. I highly recommend.
Very cool! Great gift for 8 year old boy! April 16, 2010 Mom of four (St. Leonard, Calvert County, Maryland) My son absolutely loves these bug toys! This ant is particularly fast moving. My 6 year old daughter threw my son's down the stairs and it landed on our ceramic kitchen floor. The top broke off but it was very easily fixed with crazy glue. Otherwise, they are pretty durable toys. If you're having difficulty trying to figure out what a 6-9 year old boy would like as a gift, pick up a couple of these bugs!
